doing lower dps than in 4.1?

[:1]has any 1 notice that? for same rotation im doing alot less dps for some reason im 378 ilvl and before i was like 370 tested on the raid dummies
Careful Aim nerf. unlimited pet focus bug fix
Nope. MM is still above the others by a good margin.
i was MM pre 4.1 am i a fanboi? MM all of wrath and end BC when i really got into the game. and yes i have noticed a steady decline in MM dmg even with better gear. (crit 60k in blues can barely do it in purps)

Edit: i know aimed shot dmg was nerfed about 2 or 3 days after 4.1 release and i agree on that hotfix it was doin too much dmg. but ive been noticing some ninja nerfs (better gear same if not lower dmg..... wait what?)

DPS Help - MM

[:1]So I have read the stickies and have looked through some other posts on the topic, but I think I might need a little more help here.

I am averaging anywhere between 13k-20k on 5 man bosses in LFR (remember 15% dmg buff). I feel like this is very low for the gear I am in.

The only green I have is the gloves, which will very very shortly be replaced with t12. The rest of my gear looks ok to me. I have taken the EJ suggested spec (I like rapid killing especially for AoE packs)

I think my problem is within my rotation for each fight. Reading the hunter guide, it has the CA phase, the regular phase and the sub 20% phase.

For CA it says to use Aimed Shot and pairs of Steady Shots. I don't believe it specifies to only do this when you have RF up, it just says to do it above 80% hp.

So what do I really do for my rotation? Here is what I normally do:

CA Phase:

1. Use Serpent Sting to use some focus.
2. Pop Rapid fire and cast 2xAimed Shot
3. Keep doing pairs of Steady with Aimed shots

Reg Phase:

4. Get SS back up
5. Use Chimera and then Arcane Shot to low focus
6. steady shot back to near full focus then repeat above

Sub 20%:

7. Simply use Kill Shot whenever its off CD unless it will break my SS pair.
8. Same as reg phase while weaving in Kill Shot off CD in place of Arcane Shot

I use !Aimed Shot pretty much as soon as it comes up
4. Get SS back up
5. Use Chimera and then Arcane Shot to low focus
6. steady shot back to near full focus then repeat above

I think this is where you're running into problems. It's not necessary nor desirable to be firing steadies with the aim of filling your focus bar completely. You should try and get to about 50 focus (i.e. enough focus to fire Chimera if it's off cooldown or a pair of arcane shots if it's not).

Also, keep in mind that the Careful Aim phase now only applies for the first 90% of the bosses health. Once the boss gets below 90%, you should be switching over to your regular priority.

I see. I can't believe I missed the 90% part of that. On boss fights in 5 mans I will probably only want to get 1-2 off, because after that they will most likely be under 90%

Also, the reason I Chimera, then dump focus on Arcane Shot is because Chimera then comes off CD as soon as I get near 100 focus again.

So I go:

1. Chimera
2. Arcane Shot dump to low (close to 0 as possible)
3. Steady shot to about 90 focus or whenever Chimera is off cooldown (and its always off cooldown way before you focus cap)
4. Chimera and then repeat

So I am always using Chimera Shot off cooldown.

Arcane does more damage than steady. By electing to pool focus until you are close to full, you're limiting the amount of damage you can do as you're limiting the number of arcane shots fired over the course of the fight. The priority is KS>Chimera>Aimed Proc>Arcane>>Steady. As long as you have Improved Steady Shot up, it's a DPS increase to dump excess focus while waiting for Chimera to come off cooldown rather than trying to get to 90 or 100 focus.
CA Phase:

1. Use Serpent Sting to use some focus.
2. Pop Rapid fire and cast 2xAimed Shot
3. Keep doing pairs of Steady with Aimed shots

Open with hardcast aimed shot, send pet in about halfway through cast. Pop RF and whatever other cooldowns then cast 2x steadys, you should have sufficient focus to hardcast 2x aimed shots back to back then, and then fall into 1x aimed 2x steadys until end of CA phase, or on a raid boss pop readiness again and RF again.
Ok, thank you for the info, I will try this out and see how it goes!
